Mission Statement: To motivate young people to take action for Biblical principle
America was once built on the Biblical worldview - now, it's time to show our peers the Way back to true freedom.
The Young Christian Leaders' Alliance is a fellowship of young people, with contacts extending to over 20 states and several foreign countries, existing to motivate members and those around us to take action for Biblical and constitutional principles.
Our group was established by young people from three original families who possessed a common belief in freedom under God, and a common desire to influence and bring reform in the American culture. It is the YCLA position that it is possible to truly accomplish victories in this effort. However, our philosophy is that we will only reclaim our nation through the claiming of individuals. Thus, our work must be both to win over individual people to Christ and the Biblical worldview, and to provide leadership and direction for these individuals. We believe the proclamation of the Good News is even more vital to reclaiming America than is any political or social effort.
However, our impact cannot stop with the simple proclamation of the Gospel. Christ also tells us to "Teach... them to observe whatsoever I have commanded you." (Matt. 28:19) Today, it is apparent that those who are willing to get involved in such goals as bringing America back to the authority of God’s Law are often few and far between. Even many declared Bible-believers have adopted a thought pattern which encourages them to be “concerned” only with such issues as “preserving the environment,” “stopping Global Warming,” and promoting socialist-leaning concepts. While these may be worthy goals in the eyes of those who pursue them, they appear to do little to further true morality, justice, and liberty, each of which we see as slipping in America today.
We believe this situation has been brought about primarily by the eroding of the understanding of God as Creator. People have been taught to measure truthfulness by popularity. The Evolutionary ideology has taken its toll, advancing relative morality and a feeling of purposelessness in our culture. However, increasing numbers of young people are realizing the error of this thought pattern, and need answers to their questions! Who will provide them with a foundation for Biblical ideas if not us? Who will develop a plan for reformation if none of us step up to bat to become active for Christ?
The YCLA vision is, first, to bring together and mobilize Christian young people. A need exists for homeschoolers, for instance, to work with each other to utilize their huge potential. Moreover, it is our belief that when we are successful in uniting young people in a network for common principles, a vast previously-untapped force will be released for the reformation movement. Imagine the things we could be used by God in to change the culture! The YCLA vision is, second, to reach out to others to win them to the Biblical worldview. We want to be “lights” not only in our homes and churches, but in other organizations, and especially in the public schools. Through the renewing of trust in God and His Word, we strive to renew an understanding of the American Founders' concept of “Liberty In Law” (our slogan). In all of these endeavors, we indeed proclaim Christ’s message of salvation from sin: the wonderful Good News which can truly set free the mind, conscience, and life of every individual!
> Purpose The Young Christian Leaders' Alliance exists to energize, educate, mobilize, and equip young people for service in all parts of the culture. The foremost way we strive for this objective is by encouraging the Biblical worldview and proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ. The YCLA wishes to promote meaningfulness and activation among youth, to displace a kind of all-too-common "faith boredom." We realize that true leadership is based on being an example. Thus, we strive to live out our trust in Christ in everyday situations. We believe it is time for young people to stand for God's Word as absolute Truth, reclaiming their communities for the Creator. > Goals
1. To learn to exhibit leadership, ingenuity and a Christ-like attitude and character, advancing morale and courage in places where we may have influence. 2. To put into practice these qualities at frequent meetings, projects, and creative events, providing accountability and momentum towards Biblical objectives. 3. To produce and distribute materials relevant to the mission of the YCLA, especially to inform and evangelize young people outside our group. 4. To be guided as individuals by the direction of God, through prayer together, fasting, reading of His Word, and wise counsel. 5. To encourage the co-operation of freedom-upholding organizations under the common banner of Liberty In Law and the Biblical Worldview.

| A Brief YCLA History The concept of the Young Christian Leaders' Alliance was born in April 2007 during a special election political race in Greenville, South Carolina. R. Josiah Magnuson, the YCLA Executive Director and current President, became aware of the large and often uncontributed potential of young people in campaigns, political or otherwise. He began thinking about building a Constitutitionalist club to unite youth for conservative ideas. While the original plan remained unpursued at the end of the race, Josiah continued thinking. He eventually began to visualize a much larger plan: a network of Biblically-oriented youth to catalyze an alliance of like-minded organizations, encompassing the entire Biblical worldview.
After bouncing the idea off several friends and mentors, Josiah made the decision to pursue the idea on July 7, 2007. On July 20, the Young Christian Leaders' Alliance held its first organizing meeting, and, on September 8, we signed a constitution.
Our group encountered a number of roadbumps in the first few months. We did not agree on everything, but our common passion for God's Word ultimately fused our team together. We began creating projects such as monthly tract-passing expeditions, prayer and encouragement for persecuted believers, and distributing Answers Magazines. In August 2008, a number of us and some friends were able to take a trip from South Carolina to the Answers in Genesis Creation Museum in Kentucky. What a place! It is our hope that we will be able to sponsor more of these trips in the near future. We launched a new website in the spring of 2009, www.YCLAlliance.org. This site, while still being developed, promises to be a valuable resource. It offers member login features, a forum and discussion board, and an overall better appearance. Our latest success has been the creation of the framework for a program called " BEAMS," which will train Christian youth in effective servant-leadership. We recently released a handbook for BEAMS on CD-ROM, which may be ordered here. We are also currently working on " Operation Pi" ( Prayer Initiative), the goal of which is to help students come together to pray for their schools and churches. Our objective is to create or identify at least 100 school prayer groups by the end of the year 2010. Our vision for the future includes increasing church events; identification of groups to help us launch the BEAMS program in Sunday Schools, fellowships, and clubs; expanding our newsletter and its circulation; and creating Internet broadcasts/Podcasts on leadership issues for youth. With God's help and your support, we can continue to work to spread the Truth (John 14:6) in every part of the culture. Please pray for the YCLA, and donate and work as you can!
| | A YCLA Theme Scripture
Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.
Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil. For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth. (from Psalm 37) | |
